Rodent Control

Squirrels are in the rodent family. They have large bushy tails and their coloring range from black, gray or brown. There are several species of squirrels, the gray squirrel, red fox squirrel and the flying squirrel. They are amazing climbers and are most active during the day, only flying squirrels are nocturnal.

Squirrels carry disease such as tick fever, powasson virus and rabies. Squirrels can be heavily infested with pests that can spread into your home and business searching for hosts. Ticks, fleas, chiggers and mites are all known carriers of disease.

Rats are members of the rodent family, they are larger than mice. Their bodies are about 6-10 inches and in some cases can way up to a pound. Their colors range from brown to black to white. They are amazing climbers, have poor vision, are colorblind but have exceptional hearing.

Norway rats, pack rats and roof rats are some of the most common rat pests in the United States. Rats are mostly nocturnal and are active at dusk looking for food and water. The rat’s reputation as dirty animals is 100% accurate. They are primary carriers of murine typhus (infected fleas of rat), leptospirosis (a disease contracted by humans when in contact with infected rat urine), trichinosis (roundworm infection), rat bite fever and plague.

Rats carry on their body mites, fleas, lice, and all known carriers of disease.

Mice- House mice, deer mice and white-footed mice are most common in United States. They weigh around 11-22 grams and are grayish brown.
